ANOTHER EVIL
horror, comedy / USA / 2016 / 1 h 30 min
When you bring home something worse than ghosts. After Dan and his wife Mary encountered a ghost in their summer house, she decides to consult an exorcist. Dan, whose unhappy with the effects, decides to get another opinion and hires Os, who promises him to get rid of the creature, behind Mary’s back. Os and Dan spend together a week at the house trying to get rid of the evil power, but Dan soon realises that exterminating the ghost won’t be as easy as it seemed. The ghost buster and his methods turn out to be questionable, Dan is bewildered. Carson D. Mell, “Another Evil” director and scriptwriter, wanted to film his feature début in a modest but thought-through way. The film takes place in a house that belongs to his family, and almost the entire weight of the story falls on the actors duo – Steve Zissis and Mark Proksch – who make it work perfectly. It’s not like the director didn’t know they would – he wrote the film with the duo in mind. The film is unique, because, although it’s a ghost story, the paranormal phenomena is not the main focus here, unlike the psychological portrait of one of the protagonists. Seasoned with great sense of humour.
