A MEEK, DISTURBING THRILLER YOU’LL NEVER FORGET
Patrick is a middle-aged outsider. He lives in an old house behind the trailer park. He has never been so hounted by the feeling of loneliness as at that stormy night. Wind whistles like crazy and a sheet of rain isolates him from the world more than anything ever. Suddenly Patrick hears knocking on the door. At his doorstep, he finds a soaking-wet young girl who got lost on the way and asks him for help.
„You’ll Never Find Me” is the type of horror, where all the action happens at one place. Tension is built up on anxiety and uncertainty of the characters. Patrick doesn’t know what the girl wants from him and gets the feeling that he has met her before. The girl, on the other hand, relies solely on his mercy. And as the time passes she regrets more and more that she asked Patrick for help.
Fear is our companion from the beginning of the screening. All scenes are shot in the ambient lighting, sometimes brightened by torchlight or lamps illuminating in the windstorm. An old house makes noises, everything creaks and Patrick’s household appears a spooky place.
Movies like „You’ll Never Find Me” need an extraordinary acting to compensate for action which happens at one place and introduces only a few characters. A role of dreadful Patrick is played by Brendan Rock, whom some of the viewers may recognize from „The Stranger” – a thriller that made a splash at world’s film festivals. But the true star of „You’ll Never Find Me” is brilliant Jordan Cowan. It is her who, using little resources, conveys the increasing fear of a soaking-wet girl, her deepening paranoia and, ultimately, psychosis that gets worse with every distorted shadow and her imagination. But is it really just her imagination? Just knock on Patrick’s door and see what’s behind them.
