Warning! Blind director on set!

Every legendary studio and great series must come to a point when they need to reassess their future. Although „Terror Firmer” was made by the one and only Lloyd Kaufman, where all of the characteristic elements of TROMA are brought to extremes (nudity, gore and absurdity), yet it seems to be something more important than just another gore movie – it summarizes a certain age in the history of Troma Entertainment. Casual fans of Lloyd Kaufman have nothing to see here because the movie is packed with references. Why? Mostly because of the meta-movie elements and attempts to deal with the film industry. It takes place on the movie set of „The Toxic Avenger” where the fictional characters are placed in a reality where they are being murdered by a mysterious serial killer.

„Terror Firmer” is one of Troma’s production that was made in the moment when the studio’s status was completely defined and even in the moment where everything was asking for a deconstruction. „If you don’t have the money, don’t do this movie” – hears one of the characters, showing all the hardships of an artist who is involved in independent cinema. Kaufman himself seems to talk through it. It is unusual that the director plays a fictional alter-ego from the past. It is difficult to mention all the cameos, resonating motifs (feminists will be presented with a curious symbolic regarding masculine oppression) and the plot itself in each and every second makes you laugh or skeeve.
