A woman with an anus instead of eyes, a boy whose dream is to become a mermaid are only two examples of the colorful array of characters in the movie. The bizarre vision depicts people that are much different from us, but quite similar in their worries and their need to find someone who would accept them. Sometimes, it simply means that they first have to find themselves. 
 Most importantly, body deformations and subversive sexuality are not merely there for shock value. The director uses them as tools by means of which he exceeds aesthetic norms that lead to exclusion. He avoids both taking pity on and idealizing his odd creations – this is why his movie remains fresh and appealing. Eduardo Casanova’s treacly-toned full length debut is an epic melodrama about finding one’s own identity, self-esteem and place in society. And the producer of this peculiar release is none other than Alex de la Iglesia (The Day of the Beast, Perdita Durango). POLISH PREMIERE
