BLOOD MACHINES

sci-fi / France / 2019 / 50 min

A naked women winds through a neon space in the rhythm of synthwave

Two galactic scrap collectors land on a desert planet while hunting a precious shipwreck. There they meet eccentric natives who worship machines. Priestesses try to save the damaged ship, asserting that it is a living being that can still be salvaged. The scrap collectors, however, do not intend to negotiate with anyone, especially when such an easy gain is at their fingertips. They are in a tight spot and resort to the most primitive solution – to force. As they start to make trouble, the men witness an unusual event. The ritual performed over the machine causes the ship’s soul to leave its “body” and it takes the form of a naked woman. A mysterious manifestation soars up and begins a journey through space full of intense colors and unusual phenomena. The delighted and intrigued collectors chase after her to discover what they are really dealing with.

“Blood Machines” is a visual orgasm – intense, stunning and breathtaking. Raphaël Hernandez takes viewers on an extraordinary journey through space which is living, twisted and filled with expressive colours. This all happens to the beat of a dynamic music video, soaked with classic Sci-Fi retro and flavoured with an otherworldly soundtrack. Hernandez fills the typical emptiness of space with his extraordinary imagination, proving that he spent every cent he saved on fulfilling his spectacular neon wet dream. Under a cloak made from fantastic science fiction, the director smuggles a whole lot of symbolism, making the film drag us into this high-octane chase with even greater force.

The film is a continuation of the 2016 “Turbo Killer” music video. It was made thanks to funds raised on the Kickstarter platform.
