Eighteen-year-old Sarah is your average girl, battling her own problems. She avoids her mother at all costs for reasons unknown. This is why she flees from home, wanders around the neighbourhood and sleeps at a playground. The situation would be bearable enough… without the recurring nightmares. The moment Sarah slips into slumber, a terrifying vision starts to haunt her: an endless humid corridor full of doors, freaky objects, misshapen corpses, and flickering lights. However, it’s the mysterious figure woven out of shadows that is the worst of it all – a frightening silhouette with shining eyes, always blocking her way. Sarah, tired of this, decides to sign up for experimental dream examination. Yet, instead of respite, even more questions await her. The researchers’ intentions turn out questionable. The nightmares begin crawling out into the wakefulness and the teenager’s state is constantly worsening.
Anthony Burns’s production is an incredibly atmospheric thriller, set deeply into an oneiric mood. The director consequently builds tension and multiplies questions, ceaselessly leading the viewer by the nose. He also treats us to imaginations of nightmares that awaken your deepest fears. “Come True” is an atmospheric film which disturbs and hypnotizes with each and every one of its takes and sounds.
