Welcome to our fairy-tale!
Academy of Mr Kleks is a bizarre place where the pupils are only boys with names starting with an “A”. The principal himself isn’t any less eccentric, beside being a teacher he preoccupies himself with magic and looking for adventures. The fate of the school is threatened by Filip Golarz – a mysterious barber who swore he would destroy the Academy.
The film is a remarkable display of imagination that knows no boundaries. This element turned out to be crucial for the picture’s cult status among today’s 30-somethings. It also became popular in… India. And the imagination’s charm worked miracles on a special commission envoys, who visited the set to check if public resources weren’t being wasted, as was rumoured. But in the end not only did they let the filming continue, they even asked if the production didn’t need additional money. There are some legendary scenes in the film, which still haunt the adults who watched it in their childhood, for example the terrifying wolves’ march. And today? It’s worth to go back and watch “Academy of Mr Kleks” again to see for yourself if the magic’s still there. It’s a film that is suitable for children, for whom it’s made, as well as for parents, for whom it would be a sentimental journey, and the best scenario would be sharing the experience with the whole family.
