Intentions are everything.
Sophia is sunk in despair after the premature death of her child. Desperate to find inner peace, she turns for help to Solomon – an occultist experienced in ancient incantation rituals. The woman believes that this will give her a chance to communicate with her deceased son.
Burrowed in a remote country house, the two protagonists perform a long and complicated ritual. Aiming to enter the world their minds cannot fathom, they risk their physical and mental health. When Solomon learns that Sophia was not completely honest about her intentions, they find themselves in an even greater danger. They are not alone in the darkness of the house – they now reside in a realm inhabited by angels and demons. No matter what, the more and more frightening ritual cannot be stopped, and the protagonists cannot leave the building, lest they cause even darker consequences.
A Dark Song is a full length directorial debut, which makes blood run cold even without spectacular special effects. Instead, the emphasis is put on realistic imagery. The difficult relationship between the characters intensifies the movie’s heavy, unsettling atmosphere. POLISH PREMIERE.
