One’s been shot, the second – bleeding a little, the third – runs away crippled. Whilst counting deers, the son of a huntsman falls asleep. Every night antlers grow out of his head and tear his pillow apart.
“Deer Boy”, dangling on a thin line between a fairy tale and horror, tells a story about instincts. About the first hunt. About blood and about nature. Here the affection of parenthood is entangled with disgust. Dream is mixed with reality. And childlike tenderness – with learning how to kill.
The movie is voiced only by the animals themselves, not letting any human to say a single word.
The deers are jumping above the boys head.
Soon one of them will have to end up dead.
